Pleasanton Trades Program Now Accepting Applicants

The City of Pleasanton and Coastal Bend College are pleased to announce the launch of the third round of the Pleasanton Trades Program, or PTP.  This trades program offers Pleasanton residents the opportunity to earn state-recognized certifications for high-demand technical career fields in , Electrical work, Plumbing, and HVAC. The partnership between the city and CBC began in 2022.

PTP is self-paced and includes online instruction and site-based skills demonstration.  The electrician program is 144 course hours, the HVAC program is 162 course hours, and the plumbing program is 145 course hours. The course hours do not include the time the individual will spend at a worksite for work experience.

“I am excited that the city, through the recommendation of the Pleasanton Economic Development Corporation will continue to provide funding for this important collaborative partnership between the City of Pleasanton and Coastal Bend College. The Pleasanton Trades Program provides residents of the city the opportunity to upskill and earn an important trade certification that will empower graduates of the program to earn competitive wage jobs,” says Pleasanton EDC President and City Council Member Jeanne Israel.

Registration for the third round is now open.  The city will cover full course registration fees for up to 25 Pleasanton Residents.  Funds will be available on a first come first served basis.  Registered students will begin online course work once approved and verified into the program. Contact bbecknell@coastalbend.edu to register for PTP program.

The city’s Government and External Affairs consulting firm, EMC Strategy Group, LLC is coordinating the project between the city and CBC.
