Headline: CBC RN graduates honored at annual pinning and candle lighting ceremony
On Tuesday, August 16, the Coastal Bend College (CBC) Department of Nursing Education hosted a pinning and candle lighting ceremony for the College’s professional/registered nursing (RN) graduates. Family, friends, and members of the community joined 14 graduates at the CBC Beeville campus inside of the Gertrude R. Jones Auditorium for the ceremony.
The annual pinning and candle lighting ceremony is a special event that celebrates the success of the College’s registered nursing students. During the ceremony, each student received a pin and a small lamp. This ceremony symbolizes a rite of passage into the registered nursing profession.
The lamp that each nursing graduate receives symbolizes a student’s intention to carry out Florence Nightingale’s Nursing Pledge to be a caring and compassionate nurse. CBC’s nursing instructors light each student’s lamp and together they recite the Florence Nightingale Nursing Pledge.
