Coastal Bend College (CBC) is hosting an Apple Pie Baking Contest at CBC Beeville on Saturday, July 2 in conjunction with the College’s Baseball Bash event.

The Apple Pie Baking Contest is open to members of the community age 15 or older. Interested participants will need to bake two identical round 9-inch apple pies that are ready to eat/serve.

Interested bakers must fill out a free registration form to enter into the contest. The form is available online at: http://bit.ly/CBCPieContest16. The deadline to complete the entry form is Thursday, June 24.

All pie submissions will need to be accompanied by a typed list of ingredients and a recipe. Apple Pie Baking Contest entries will be accepted on Saturday, July 2 from 4 p.m.- 5 p.m. inside of the Peter S. Marecek Physical Fitness Center (gymnasium).

A panel of judges from the community will judge each apple pie on overall taste (balance of flavors, quality of the crust/ingredients, filling flavors) and overall look/presentation of the pie.

The contest will announce a first, second and third place winner, as well as an overall best in show winner. First place receives a $100 H-E-B gift card, second place receives a $50 gift card, and third place receives a $25 gift card. The best in show winner receives a $75 gift card.

The winners will be announced at the first responders versus veterans softball game that will take place at 7 p.m. at Joe Hunter Field. Admission into the game is free for everyone.
