TRiO Educational Talent Search serves more than 600 students

Coastal Bend College – Alice Campus TRiO Educational Talent Search recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate a grant award of $230,000 for a five-year extension of the federal program.

TRiO Educational Talent Search at Coastal Bend College in Alice will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, Oct. 7 at 11:30 a.m. to celebrate the federal grant renewal. Coastal Bend College students earn academic honors

Coastal Bend College recognizes students for academic achievement during the Spring 2011 semester. Students named to the scholastic leadership roll, also called the “dean’s list,” completed 12 or more semester hours with passing grades in all courses and earned a semester grade-point-average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

District 35 State Rep to speak at Coastal Bend College graduation

Coastal Bend College will hold commencement on May 13 at 7 p.m. on the main campus in Beeville. Degree- and certificate-earning students from campuses in Alice, Beeville, Kingsville and Pleasanton will participate in the outdoor ceremony. CBC Main Campus is located at 3800 Charco Road in Beeville, Texas.

CBC recognizes federal programs with TRiO Day celebrations

The TRiO Program hosted by Coastal Bend College will be celebrating TRiO Day on Feb. 11, 9:30 a.m. at the Beeville campus and Feb. 25, 9 a.m. at the Alice Campus. Through TRiO, our nation is committed to providing educational opportunities for all Americans regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, gender, age or disability. Over 2,800 TRiO Programs currently serve nearly 850,000 Americans. Thirty-seven percent of TRiO students are White, 35 percent are African-American, 19 percent are Hispanic, 4 percent are Native American, 4 percent are Asian and 1 percent of participants nationwide is listed as “Other,” including multiracial students. More than 7,000 students with disabilities and approximately 6,000 U.S. veterans are currently enrolled in TRiO programs as well.
