“We wanted youth to know that soft skills are important,” Scotty Draper said about the recent Tools for Tomorrow Youth Conference held in Beeville. More than 70 Coastal Bend College TRiO students from Beeville, George West, Odem, Sinton, Taft, Karnes City, Kenedy, Mathis, Odem, Pettus, Refugio, Runge, Skidmore, Taft and Three Rivers attended the daylong event.
Coastal Bend College will hold commencement on May 13 at 7 p.m. on the main campus in Beeville. Degree- and certificate-earning students from campuses in Alice, Beeville, Kingsville and Pleasanton will participate in the outdoor ceremony. CBC Main Campus is located at 3800 Charco Road in Beeville, Texas.
Coastal Bend College Dental Hygiene Clinic accepts patients at a nominal cost on Mondays [8:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.]; Tuesdays [1:30 p.m.]; Wednesdays [8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.]; and Thursdays [1:30 p.m.] Services available include teeth cleaning, fluoride treatments, dental x-rays, site – specific antimicrobial placement and pit/fissure sealants placement. Dental hygiene students are preparing for boards and are in desperate need of patients with challenging oral conditions. There is a mock board coming up at the college in preparation of the state board in San Antonio and students will benefit from the practice. The Coastal Bend College Upward Bound – George West, Odem, Sinton, Taft program recently traveled to The University of Texas at San Antonio with a group of area high school students. Participants sat in on UTSA information sessions regarding financial aid, admissions, campus life and specific majors and posed questions to university representatives. The students then took part in a real college experience by dining at UTSA’s Roadrunner Café.
