Three Coastal Bend College Cougar basketball players recently committed themselves to play for universities across the country.

The Coastal Bend College Men’s Basketball team defeated Angelina College in Lufkin Monday night, 76- 73 in overtime, catapulting the Cougars into the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XIV Tournament held at Tyler Junior College Wagstaff Gymnasium this week.

Meet Coastal Bend College Assistant Baskeball Coach Colt Walker

Colt Walker is in his first season as an assistant coach at Coastal Bend College. Before arriving at CBC, Walker was the assistant men’s coach at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. In his two years at UTPB, he helped lead the Falcons to their best season ever as a Division II program; win their first regular season conference championship; and advance to the conference tournament championship for the first time in school history. Coach Walker was UTPB Recruiting Coordinator.

Coastal Bend College Cougars coast to win over Randolph AFB

The Cougars showed an impressive ability to distribute the ball and were able to get points on the board from 12 different players. # 1 Golden lead the team with 17 points, 12 of which came from beyond the three-point line. He was followed by the 6’11” sophomore from Miami, Fla. Charles Mells and Shedd who also ended the night with a double-digit scoring effort. CBC competes in National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 14 sport in men’s soccer, men’s basketball, women’s softball and women’s volleyball.
