Willbros Construction in George West, Rock Water Energy Solutions in Alice, and Cameron International in Corpus Christi sent employees to Coastal Bend College recently for oil and gas industry basic orientation. The course was taught by Terry Kirkpatrick, a safety trainer and consultant with over 23 years of experience in the industry.

The Flying Balalaika Brothers, an Austin-based music group, will perform for the Beeville Concert Association on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 3 p.m. at the Gertrude R. Jones Performing Arts Auditorium.The concert is sponsored by the Coastal Bend Community Foundation, as part of their special Spring for the Artsprogram in celebration of their 30 years of philanthropy in South Texas.
Coastal Bend College student Veronique Ramirez worked with the staffs of both Texas State District 35 Representative Jose Aliseda and Texas State Senator Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa (District 20). She spent two days in Austin inputting data, greeting capitol visitors, answering phones and doing legislative research. She was given a staff identification badge for errands that required her to have special access to non-public areas of the capitol building.
More than 850 middle and high school students converged at Alice High School to celebrate mariachi musicality last Saturday (April 17). Coastal Bend College’s 8th Annual Día Del Mariachi(TM) Vocal and Group Competition attracted middle school, junior varsity and varsity school competitors in many aspects of mariachi music. The judged event showcased the talents of 41 youth mariachis and 37 individual vocalist competitors.
