CBC Basketball to host Summer Basketball Camps

The Coastal Bend College (CBC) Basketball program is hosting basketball camps this summer on July 10-13 (ages 13-17) and July 17-20 (ages 7-12). Both camps will be hosted at CBC Beeville’s Peter S. Marecek Physical Fitness Center (gym).

CBC’s Summer Basketball Camps will be led by CBC Men’s Head Basketball Coach Carliss Robinson and CBC Women’s Assistant Basketball Coach Chris Godfrey. The camps will feature instruction from the College’s skilled coaching staff, camp all-star game and an awards ceremony. Campers will be lead through a series of drills throughout the camp in order to develop the following skills: ball handling, defensive fundamentals, shooting technique, rebounding and passing.

Check in for the camps will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the camp day will run from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. The camp is $80 per camper and the camp fee will include a t-shirt. Campers will have the option of bringing their lunch or purchasing their lunch from the College’s dining partner Great Western Dining for a fee of $20.

Registration for the camps will be ongoing and parents/guardians are encouraged to visit www.coastalbend.edu/Athletics to download the camp forms. All camp forms as well as the camp fee will be collected on the first day of camp.

CBC to host free 3rd Annual July 4th Celebration

Members of the community from Beeville and the surrounding areas are invited to attend Coastal Bend College’s (CBC) July 4th Celebration. This free event is taking place at the CBC Beeville location and was made possible through donations from Angel Care, Kicker 106 and HEB.

The free family friendly event is set to take place on Tuesday, July 4 from 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. A local celebrity softball game is slated to take place at Joe Hunter Field at 5:30 p.m. with an HEB sponsored hot dog eating contest taking place immediately following the game.

A friendly softball game between the College and Beeville Independent School District (ISD) will take place at 7:30. CBC is also proud to announce a Beeville Little League softball game for the challenger division at 8:30 p.m.

In addition, community members are invited to attend a fireworks display, which will take place at 9:30 p.m. The fireworks display will be set up in front of the College and event goers are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to view the display from the grassy area south of the College’s LED sign. College officials will be on hand to usher community members to the specified area.

CBC Alice gets set to host National Weather Service storm spotter training

Coastal Bend College (CBC) Alice is excited to announce the National Weather Service will be conducting two free courses on Tuesday, July 25 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. for members of the community who would like to help keep an eye on the skies in South Texas.

The courses that will be conducted include a storm spotter class as well as a disaster home preparation class. Classes will include training sessions where individuals will learn to identify potential severe weather conditions and understand how to prepare their home to withstand the severe weather.

These classes are being provided by CBC’s Continuing Education Department and will be free of charge. CBC to host Bee Jamboree June 24

BEEVILLE–Coastal Bend College as a Bee Campus USA along with the City of Beeville, a designated Bee City USA in conjunction with the Bee County Chamber of Commerce will host the Inaugural Bee Jamboree at Coastal Bend College on June 24, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Bee Jamboree, a free event, will feature:

CBC Cosmetology program available for appointments throughout summer

The Coastal Bend College (CBC) cosmetology programs at the Beeville, Kingsville and Pleasanton locations are open for business. Community members are encouraged to call the salons nearest them to make an appointment with one of our talented cosmetology students.

Through the College’s salon, students are able to offer community members with a variety of services while gaining hands on cosmetology experience.
