Clubs and organizations were out in full force on Tuesday, February 14 for the College sponsored event. Love-A-Club Day was hosted to provide current students with the opportunity to join and/or start their own club/organization at the College. Members of the community and surrounding areas are invited to attend Coastal Bend College’s (CBC) Seventh Annual CBC Cougar Powerlifting Championships on Saturday, April 22 at CBC Beeville. The powerlifting meet is sanctioned by USA Powerlifting (USAPL) and is slated to take place inside of the Peter S. Marecek Physical Fitness Center, which is located at 3800 Charco Road.
Meet participants will have the option of competing in the following: full powerlifting meet (squat, bench press and dead lift), bench press only meet, push/pull meet or deadlift only meet. Divisions for the powerlifting meet will be broken down into youth, teen, junior, open, collegiate, master and Special Olympics.
In order to participate in the powerlifting meet, prospective athletes must first purchase a USAPL membership card. USAPL membership cards range from $10-45 and may be purchased online at http://bit.ly/USAPLMembership. Registration for the CBC Cougar Powerlifting Competition is open and interested participants should visit http://bit.ly/USAPL17 to register. The registration fee for participants varies from $20-$55.

Coastal Bend College’s (CBC) Athletic Department recently hosted an awards banquet for the men’s soccer team. The awards banquet was hosted to honor CBC’s student athletes for their historical 2016 season.

In addition, two players from CBC’s men’s soccer team were named to the NJCAA All-Region XIV teams. Defender Conor Lee and left wing Sam Fearon each received All-Region XIV honors for their excellent performance this season on the pitch.
Lee is a sophomore from Bedford, England who was one of the 2016 captains for the College’s soccer team this season. He started 19 games for the Cougars and tallied three goals with three assists. Fearon is a freshman from Nottingham, England. He played in 17 games for the Cougars. This season, he recorded eight goals with three assists.
This year, CBC’s men’s soccer team finished 14-6 overall with a record of 9-5 in National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XIV play. The men’s soccer team hosted its first-ever NJCAA Region XIV quarterfinal playoff match this season against Paris Junior College (PJC). CBC defeated PJC, 2-0. The team’s historic season came to an end when the Cougars traveled to Houston, Texas to play San Jacinto College-South. CBC fell to San Jacinto College-South, 3-2.

Headline: CBC Athletics gets set to host Jackson’s Triple Threat Basketball Camps
The Coastal Bend College (CBC) Athletics program is hosting Derrick Jackson Triple Threat Basketball Camps on June 20-23 for athletes 7-12 years of age and June 27-30 for athletes 13-17 years of age. Each basketball camp will take place at CBC Beeville inside of the Peter S. Marecek Physical Fitness Center (gym) from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Athletes wishing to participate in the basketball camp will have a $75 camp fee, which includes an official camp T-shirt and lunch. Payment for the basketball camp can be made at the CBC Business Office, which is located at 3800 Charco Road. Parents and/or guardians who would like their child to participate in one of the camps should email their campers’ name and age to email@example.com.
