Two CBC Men’s Basketball Players Sign National Letters of Intent

Coastal Bend College (CBC) and CBC Men’s Head Basketball Coach Carliss Robinson (center) are proud to announce the signing of two men’s basketball players. Kyonis Owens (right) and Ricardo Stanford (left) recently signed their national letter of intent to continue their athletic careers at four-year universities. Kyonis will be attending the New York Institute of Technology and he will be majoring in accounting. Ricardo will be attending Florida National University and he will be pursuing a pre-law degree. Students at CBC receive Barnhart Transfer Scholarship

Coastal Bend College (CBC) is pleased to announce four students from the Beeville campus received the Barnhart Transfer Scholarship thanks to the Joe Barnhart Foundation. The Joe Barnhart Foundation has been and continues to be supporter of the College’s programs as well as the students.

During the spring semester each year, the Barnhart Foundation conducts a scholarship competition for current CBC students who are planning on transferring to a four-year university. In order to be considered for the scholarship, students must have at least a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) and have exemplified qualities pertaining to leadership as well as community service. Students are also required to write an essay and answer several questions pertaining to their career goals and character.

Student finalists are chosen from all of the applications received for a one-on-one in-person interview with the Joe Barnhart Foundation to determine which students will receive the scholarship(s). This year, the Joe Barnhart Foundation awarded each of the four finalists a $10,000 transfer scholarship.

Congratulations to Regan Willbanks who is transferring to New Mexico State University to major in electrical engineering; Kristina Kana who is transferring to Texas A&M- Kingsville to play basketball and major in education; Conor Lee who is transferring to St. Mary’s University (San Antonio, Texas) to play soccer and major in business management; and Charlie Payne who is transferring to Missouri Valley College to play soccer and major in graphic design.

CBC gets set to celebrate National Library Week

Coastal Bend College (CBC) is celebrating National Library Week this week at the Beeville, Alice and Kingsville locations. The celebrations will be filled with information as well as a variety of refreshments, while supplies last. The National Library Week festivities include:

  • CBC Beeville- Monday, April 10 at 11 a.m.
  • CBC Kingsville- Tuesday, April 11 at 9 a.m.
  • CBC Alice- Wednesday, April 12 at 2 p.m.

CBC Beeville to host 6th Annual Spring Fest on April 12

Coastal Bend College (CBC) Beeville will host the Sixth Annual Spring Fest at 3800 Charco Road on Wednesday, April 12. The College’s annual community appreciation event will take place directly behind the Robert J. Beasley, Jr. Administration Building in the courtyard area from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Members from the community and surrounding areas are invited to attend the free family friendly event that will feature free games, activities and entertainment for children of all ages. Clubs and organizations from CBC Beeville will be on site with refreshments for sale.

Egg hunts for the following age groups are scheduled to take place: 0-3 years old at 7 p.m.; 3-7 years old at 7:15 p.m.; and 8-12 years old at 7:30 p.m. Parents who would like to have their children participate in the egg hunts should be sure to bring a basket.

CBC closed for Spring Holiday

The Coastal Bend College (CBC) Beeville, Alice, Kingsville and Pleasanton locations will be closed in observance of the spring holiday on Friday, April 14 and Monday, April 17. All CBC locations will reopen for business on Tuesday, April 18 at normal hours of operation.

Registration for the summer and fall semesters is underway at all CBC locations. Students with no holds on their accounts may registers online at www.coastalbend.edu via Campus Connect. For more information about registration, please visit your nearest CBC location.
