Coastal Bend College Informational and VR Demonstration: June 15

Coastal Bend College will be hosting an informational and VR Demonstration on June 15 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for interested students. Individuals representing Coastal Bend College, YouthBuild Coastal Bend, Workforce Solutions, and Crossroads Adult Education and Literacy will be in attendance.

YouthBuild Coastal Bend is recruiting for its next class in Beeville, which is planned to begin in mid July. All of the information sessions will be held at Coastal Bend College, R.W. Dirks Student Services Building, Room 119, located at 3800 Charco Road in Beeville.

YouthBuild is a national program that helps young people earn their GEDs, trains participants in construction trades, and teaches work readiness and leadership skills. Hands-on construction training takes place while building affordable housing within the community. Participants who successfully complete the program receive a nationally recognized construction trades certification.

Crossroads Adult Education and Literacy provides free classes including: high school equivalency prep, basic skills upgrading, English as a Second Language (ESL), English Literacy Civics (EL Civics), College and Career Readiness, and more.

The VR Demonstration will allow attendees to test out a range of careers through an Oculus Headset, to see what career path most interest them. Careers available through the simulation include: Skilled Trades, Manufacturing, Automotive, Public Safety, Warehousing and Storage, and Hospitality and Tourism.
