Coastal Bend College Offering Medication Administration Refresher Course

The Medication Administration Refresher course will be held at Coastal Bend College Beeville and Coastal Bend College Alice. The cost of the seven-hour course includes tuition and materials at $75. Those who satisfactorily complete the course will receive .7 CEU’s and a certificate of completion from Coastal Bend College.

This Medication Administration Refresher course will serve to provide a review of medication management task performance for direct support professionals, behavioral technicians, program coordinators, and program directors.  The refresher serves those who have previously completed the Medication Administration Training Course.

This course will cover major topics related to Medication Administration within your specific setting. Medication Aides are required to complete the 7-hour update before their expiration date. Failure to complete the update before the date shown on the permit will result in the Med Aide’s permits being deleted and their having to retake the 140-hour course

For those individuals who were already Med Aides prior to 2000, their expiration date is their date of birth. For individuals passing the test after 01/01/00, their expiration date is one year from the original date of issue – their expiration date will not be their date of birth. The Medication Administration Refresher Course will be held once a month in Beeville George F. Elam Technical-Vocational Building, Room 111 and CBC Alice, Room 204 through May from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. The cost of the course is $75.

The dates for course are as follows: February 22, March 21, April 18, and May 16.
