CBC’s Nursing Department Accepting Applications for Spring LVN to RN Bridge Program

The Coastal Bend College (CBC) Nursing Education Department is providing interested students with an LVN to RN Bridge Program option online. Students who have already obtained their licensed vocational nursing (LVN) level I certificate will have the opportunity to gain the education and hands-on training necessary to begin a career as a registered nurse (RN).

Students who are interested in CBC’s LVN to RN Bridge Program should note that the program is scheduled to take place at online with instructor at CBC Pleasanton and CBC Alice. The program is scheduled to last one year (two semesters).

In order to be considered for CBC’s LVN to RN Bridge Program, students must submit their application no later than Friday, October 18. The application process consists of taking the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) and completing an LVN to RN Bridge Program Application Packet.

The TEAS test will be offered every Friday at three CBC locations including Alice, Kingsville and Pleasanton. Students should note that they must bring their picture ID as well as a debit, credit or pre-paid card to pay the $65 test fee. A Nursing Selection Committee will screen applicants for the program based on their grade point average (GPA), TEAS score, previous coursework, recommendations and employment history. Students who are admitted into the program will receive an acceptance letter.

Upon successful completion of the two semester long program, students will receive an Associate of Applied Science degree. Students will then be required to pass their state board examinations in order to legally practice the nursing profession in the state of Texas. Graduates from CBC’s LVN to RN Bridge Program had a high pass/success rate on their state board examinations.
