Coastal Bend College (CBC) is hosting a science, technology, engineering & mathematics (STEM) Challenge Camp on June 13-24 for students who have recently completed grades 1-5 in local area public schools. The Challenge Camp is free for public school participants thanks to a generous donation from the Coastal Bend Community Foundation.

CBC’s Challenge Camp will take place at the Beeville, Alice, Kingsville and Pleasanton locations. Classes are scheduled to take place Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.

STEM Camp has an overall focus on engaging a student’s mind and body. Attendees will engage in daily challenge labs that are geared toward STEM activities. In addition, students will also have the opportunity to participate in various instructor led outdoor activities and demonstrations that will benefit their overall cognitive health.

Space is limited and admittance into the program is on a first come, first serve basis. The camp’s application is available online at www.coastalbend.edu/kc. Each CBC location will accept 35 students. An extended camp option is available for $50 per week for parents who will need to drop off their student at 7:30 a.m. and/or pick them up between 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.

Parents and/or community members who are interested in volunteering their time to STEM Challenge Camp should contact the camp coordinator.
