The Joe Barnhart Foundation has been a longtime friend and supporter of the programs and students at CBC.

Each spring semester, the Barnhart Foundations holds a scholarship competition for CBC students who are planning to transfer to a four-year university, have at least a 3.0 grade point average (GPA), and have exemplified qualities pertaining to leadership and community service. Students must write an essay and answer several questions pertaining to their career goals and character.

Four student finalists are then chosen from all the applications received for one-on-one in-person interviews with the Barnhart Foundation to determine the scholarship recipient(s). This year, the Barnhart Foundation awarded each of the four finalists with a $10,000 transfer scholarship.

“We’re immensely proud of our students, and we’re grateful to the Barnhart Foundation for finding each of the finalists worthy of receiving a scholarship. Making a $40,000 investment in CBC students speaks volumes about the caliber of students we have,” said Nora Morales, director of financial aid.

Congratulations to Chelsea Alvarado (Beeville) who is transferring to the University of Texas San Antonio to major in kinesiology; Colter Dees (George West) who is transferring to the University of Texas at Austin to become a pharmacist; Shan Liu (Beeville) who is transferring to the University of Texas at Austin to major in business/accounting; and Mary Jane Luther (George West) who is transferring to Texas A&M College Station to major in accounting.
