Headline: CBC’s Lecture Series to highlight legendary author J. Frank Dobie
Members of the community and surrounding areas are invited to attend Coastal Bend College’s (CBC) Lecture Series on Thursday, October 8 beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Gertrude R. Jones Auditorium. The lecture series is a free community event that will highlight the life and times of legendary author, folklorist, academic and historian J. Frank Dobie. Refreshments will be served at 6 p.m. in the auditorium.
J. Frank Dobie was born in Live Oak County, Texas and was the eldest of six children. Dobie attended and later graduated from Southwestern University in Georgetown. Before he was laid to rest in 1964, Dobie was credited with authoring 50 pieces of literature.
CBC’s Lecture Series will feature keynote speaker Steven L. Davis, as well as guest speaker Mary Margaret Campbell. Davis is the curator of the Witliff Collection at Texas State University and an award-winning author. Campbell is the Director of the 27th Annual George West Storyfest, which takes place on Saturday, November 7.
