The Coastal Bend College (CBC) Nursing Education Department is providing interested students with the opportunity to take the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) at one of CBC’s four locations. Students who are interested in pursing a licensed vocational nursing (LVN) degree and/or a registered nursing (RN) degree from CBC will need to take the TEAS before they are considered for either program.

The TEAS exam is a multiple-choice assessment compiled of objectives that nursing and allied health educators utilize to gauge a student’s academic preparedness. Each examination is comprised of various subjects including reading, math, science, English and language usage.

Each CBC location will administer the TEAS exam every Friday beginning September 18, 2015 and ending April 15, 2016. Students will have the opportunity to take the TEAS exam at the CBC location that it closest to them. In order to reserve a seat on exam day, students will need to contact their respective CBC location via email or phone and provide their name, phone number, email address and the date that they would like to take the exam.

Arrangements should be made in order to arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled exam time. Students who are taking the exam will need to bring a picture ID as well as a debit, credit or pre-paid card to pay the $55 exam fee. A student has the opportunity to take the TEAS exam three times, but the student must pay each time.
