Headline: CBC Kingsville to host Cougar Day New Student Orientation on August 13
All new fall 2015 Coastal Bend College (CBC) students are invited to attend Cougar Day New Student Orientation at CBC Kingsville on August 13. Mandatory new student orientation is a key component of the College’s Quality Enhancement Program (QEP), CBC Smart Start, which aims to increase student success rates amongst first-time college students. Students who attend Cougar Day have a higher rate of success than those who did not attend according to 2014-2015 academic year data.
Cougar Day New Student Orientation is a fun-filled, daylong event where students learn information about how to succeed during their first year of college. Faculty and staff from various college departments will conduct informative presentations covering topics such as CBC student services, tutoring, student life, study tips, Blackboard and student email.
Cougar Day New Student Orientation attendees who complete orientation receive a free CBC Cougar Day t-shirt and USB drive. Several drawings will take place at the event for CBC book scholarships, an iPad 4 and a Samsung Galaxy 4 Tablet.
Students who plan on attending Cougar Day need to register for the event online at http://www.coastalbend.edu/cougardays. Cougar Day attendees should be registered for the fall 2015 semester and are encouraged to have already completed their free application for federal student aid (FAFSA). Students ages 21 and under may need to submit proof of their bacterial meningitis vaccination to the CBC Admissions Office prior to the event.
