Newly formed Riviera Seahawk Early College Academy (Kaufer High School) to host ECHS Celebration and College Signing Day

Kaufer High School in Riviera, Texas will recognize students who have committed to attend Coastal Bend College (CBC) in fall 2015 as well as all of the students who participate in the dual enrollment program. Riviera Independent School District (ISD) will also announce their newly formed Early College High School partnership with CBC for the 2015-2016 academic year.

ABOUT COASTAL BEND COLLEGE

Coastal Bend College (CBC), formerly known as Bee County College (BCC), is a public two-year institution of higher education that was founded in 1965. There are currently four CBC locations in South Texas: Beeville, Alice, Kingsville and Pleasanton. CBC offers both academic and workforce pathways for students and is accredited by the Southern Association of College and Schools (SACS).

ABOUT COASTAL BEND COLLEGE’S OFFICE OF DUAL ENROLLMENT

The Office of Dual Enrollment (ODE) provides high school students with a head start on college courses while still enrolled in high school. Dual enrollment college courses that are offered through CBC are high quality, affordable and transfer to most four-year colleges and universities in Texas. These courses are offered online, on campus and via distance learning at over 35 high schools in the surrounding areas.

ABOUT EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL (ECHS)

ECHS are designed to provide high school students, who are not likely to attend an institution of higher education, with the opportunity to obtain their high school diploma as well as an associate degree. The college level credits that students earn are transferrable to most four-year institutions in Texas. There are currently 154 ECHS across the State of Texas.
