PLEASANTON, TX- The Coastal Bend College (CBC) Pleasanton site is thrilled to announce that they will host their annual Community Ties event at 1411 Bensdale Road on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 2 p.m.- 7 p.m.

The family friendly event is open to all Pleasanton and surrounding area community members. Families can enjoy games, live entertainment and a huge slide, in addition to other fun activities and information provided by local community agencies and businesses.

A mobile health-screening unit, provided by the local Lions Club, will be on hand performing vision screenings for members of the community. A parent and/or legal guardian will need to be present with any child under the age of 18 who wishes to obtain a free vision screening. Local health care professionals, certified technicians and trained volunteers will perform each screening. The vision screenings are not intended as a substitute for annual eye exams.

An assortment of refreshments and snacks will be available free of charge, while supplies last. Photos that are captured throughout the event will be uploaded online via Facebook and can be viewed after the event by visiting Facebook.com/coastalbendcollege.

Representatives from the various workforce and academic programs that are offered at the CBC Pleasanton site will be present to speak with community members about the higher education options that are available. Nursing, welding, accounting, cosmetology, and early development and education are some of the workforce program options offered at the Pleasanton location. University transfer courses, often referred to as the core curriculum or basics, are also offered.
