Headline: CBC Child Development Center receives TeachSmart interactive board
Beeville, Texas- Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend (WFSCB) gave the Coastal Bend College (CBC) Child Development Center a new, state-of-the-art TeachSmart board on January 9, 2015. TeachSmart is an interactive whiteboard designed to meet the developmental needs of all children including struggling students, advanced students, students who have special needs and students who are not native English speakers. TeachSmart gives children the opportunity to develop at their own pace without feeling as if they are being left behind.
“This board will allow the children to get actively involved and engaged with the lessons that are being taught,” said CBC Child Development Center Director Yolanda Mendez. “We are exposing the students to technology that they will use throughout their education, and it’s exciting to see lessons come to life in our classrooms. The children love this new, interactive learning experience.”
Staff at the CBC Child Development Center will utilize the new whiteboard with children ages 4-5 years old. Lessons will focus on building a foundation of school readiness to help children be better prepared for transition into the K-12 system. Parents of children at the Center will be excited to learn that the TeachSmart will also capture student’s art and school work that was created while using the board. All of the work that is captured will be stored in a digital portfolio that can be accessed by the CBC Child Development Center staff to track the progress and development of the children.
