Coastal Bend College Drafting and Design Technology Professor Jack W. Young, far left, took CBC drafting and design students (from left to right) Lonnie Saenz, Kyle Pittman, Isaiah Montez, Baltazar Garay, and Thomas DeLeon on a career exploration field trip to Corpus Christi, Texas. The drafting and design program does this on an annual basis to give students the opportunity to visit several key companies in the drafting and design industry.

Students were able to visit and talk with representatives from Kiewit Offshore Services in Ingleside, and Lamar Womack Architects, Turner Industries LLC, and Govind Development LLC in Corpus Christi.

“The trip proved to be a great success and a tremendous learning experience for all of the students who attended. We appreciate the support from the CBC Administration and our industry partners who help make field trips like this happen for our students,” Young said. “These trips allow my students to get a first-hand look at what they can do for these companies after they graduate the program. Each of the companies let our students know that they had a strong need for hiring drafting and design technicians that eventually work their way up to becoming piping designers or architectural designers. These are high paying careers and companies are always impressed by the caliber of CBC drafting students.”

The CBC Drafting and Design Technology Program is accepting students for the fall 2014 semester. For more information, please contact Jack W. Young at (361) 354-2325 or via email at jwyoung@coastalbend.edu.
