The Coastal Bend College graduation ceremonies are scheduled for Friday, May 9. Two ceremonies will be held at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Coastal Bend College Beeville campus located at 3800 Charco Road. Both ceremonies will be inside the Peter S. Marecek Physical Fitness Center (gymnasium). CBC graduates from the Beeville campus, and the Alice, Kingsville, and Pleasanton sites will take part in the annual commencement exercises.

The morning commencement at 10 a.m. will include graduates in the following programs: Airframe & Power Technology, Associate of Science, Cosmetology, Dental Hygiene, Drafting & Design, Early Development and Education, Forensic Science, Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice and Oil and Gas Technology.

The afternoon commencement at 2 p.m. will include graduates in the following programs: Accounting, Associate of Arts, Automotive Technology, Computer Information Technology, Health Information Technology/Medical Records Coding, Machinist, Professional Business Technology, Nursing LVN, Nursing RN, Pharmacy Technician, Radiologic Technology and Welding Technology.

This year’s commencement address will be delivered by the 2014 Distinguished Alumnus of the Year, Dr. Kerry Keith Mix. Mix attained an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electronic Servicing from CBC in 2001. In addition, he earned a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science Degree in Computer Information Systems and a Master of Education Degree in Administration and Supervision from the University of Houston-Victoria, Texas. He then went on to graduate from The University of Texas at Austin’s Community College Leadership Program with a Doctorate in Educational Administration. Since 2011, Mix has served as the Dean of Enrollment Services for San Jacinto College’s (SJC) South Campus located in Houston, Texas.

"What started at CBC truly transformed my life. Each degree challenged me to move forward. I often credit much of my success for the foundation I received at CBC," Mix said.

Hill Country Brass will provide music for the graduation processional and throughout the program Students’ family and friends, as well as community members, are invited to attend commencement. A free dessert reception sponsored by the CBC Foundation will be held for graduates and their guests after each commencement ceremony.
