Coastal Bend College

The latest official news from CBC!

Beginning in spring 2014, students will be able to enroll in CBC’s Weekend College at all CBC locations via distance learning. Weekend College is offering the following courses during the spring 2014 semester: PSYC 2301, SPCH 1311, ENGL 2323, HIST 1302, GOVT 2305, and KINE 1238 at all sites. Additionally, Weekend College is proud to offer allied health students the BIOL 2420 course on the Beeville and Alice sites.

“Weekend College focuses on providing the entire Coastal Bend College service area with high quality education that fits into their schedule. Our new distance learning course delivery model gives students more choices, more flexibility, and more opportunities to graduate with their degree and help provide for themselves and their families,” said Weekend College Coordinator Danny Garcia.

Most Weekend College courses meet on Fridays from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m, and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., every-other-weekend. A course will meet four times, and then the student will have completed the course and can move onto the next one. Weekend College courses may be delivered in a combination of formats such as face-to-face, hybrid, online, and distance learning. The course instructor/professor will deliver the course from various CBC sites so that students all have a chance for face-to-face interaction with their course instructor/professor.

“Higher education is an investment in one’s future, and CBC Weekend College’s low tuition and financial aid options make it affordable for everyone. Our goal is to help students reach their full potential, and we hope this new Weekend College format helps working families, single parents, and shift workers fit college courses into their schedule,” Garcia added.

Registration for Weekend College is on-going due to the flexible schedule of the courses, so students can enter into the program at nearly anytime.
