Coastal Bend College is proud to announce that Gloria Rincon, secretary to the CBC Board of Trustees, has been awarded the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) Western Region Professional Board Staff Member Award.

“I am truly honored to have been chosen as the recipient of the 2013 Western Region Professional Board Staff Member Award. It is an honor and a privilege to represent Coastal Bend College, the Board of Trustees, our service area and local community in acceptance of this prestigious award. I am here to serve our most valued customers—our students. They are our future leaders,” Rincon said.

Rincon grew up in Mineral, Texas in Bee County, and is a CBC alumnus. From 1976 to 1983, she worked for Bee County College, now Coastal Bend College, in various positions for administrative services, academic faculty, and the Office of the Vice President. In 1984, she became secretary to President Grady C. Hogue and has since served five additional college presidents, including current president Dr. Beatriz T. Espinoza, as their executive assistant. In addition to her executive assistant duties, Rincon has also served as secretary to the CBC Board of Trustees since 1984.

CBC Board Chairman Paul Jaure feels this award is long overdue and well deserved because of Rincon’s work ethic, professionalism, and loyalty to the college.

“Gloria is outstanding, and all of us are so proud of her for winning this award. Gloria ensures the Board follows our bylaws, rules, and procedures. During a trustee election a few years ago, myself and former CBC president Dr. Thomas Baynum wanted to be the first ones to go vote. We walk in, and Gloria told us we had to provide a driver’s license. I thought she was kidding because she obviously knew who we were. She told us, ‘Yes, I know who you are, but I still need to see your driver’s license’. So we had to go get our driver’s license. I think it shows her dedication to the college and its policies,” Jaure said.

She currently resides in Beeville, Texas with her husband of 43 years Ray Rincon whom she met at Bee County College, and they have three daughters and one grandson. Rincon plans on attending the 44th annual ACCT Leadership Congress in Seattle, Washington this October to accept her award. The CBC Board of Trustees, faculty, and staff congratulate Rincon on this huge honor.
