Coastal Bend College

The latest official news from CBC!

Coastal Bend College cares about student concerns, and the college is always committed to ensuring student success. All the courses needed in order for students to graduate on time/on schedule with a degree or certificate are being offered in fall 2013 and onward. There have not been any changes to courses/programs that would prevent any student from being able to graduate on time, and all CBC locations are open and ready to serve students and the community.

Furthermore, CBC offers courses in a variety of formats such as face-to-face, hybrid, online/Internet, and distance learning so that all students have flexible course options to fit their needs. CBC also offers various evening classes, and the Weekend College is available at any CBC campus/site beginning this fall.

“The CBC Beeville, Alice, Kingsville and Pleasanton sites are not going anywhere. We are here ready to serve any student in their higher education journey with anything from testing to financial aid to registration. I’ve worked at CBC for over 20 years, and the college is a wonderful part of the community. It’s a hub for greater opportunities in the communities we serve. CBC is here to stay, and we are focused on helping students graduate and succeed every single day,” said Dee Berthold, Counselor at the CBC Alice site.

Coastal Bend College is currently registering for summer II and fall 2013. Students without any holds may register online at www.coastalbend.edu via Campus Connect. Registration is open from now until July 8 for summer II classes and until August 27 for fall classes. Students who have attended CBC within the past year or have an updated admissions form in the Admissions/Registrar’s Office may also register online.

New students may apply to CBC by visiting www.coastalbend.edu/applynow and filling out the free application form on Apply Texas. At all CBC locations, staff from the CBC Student Development Office, as well as CBC faculty members, are available to assist students with any questions about the application process and enrolling in courses. For more information about visiting with an advisor or faculty member, please call (361) 354-2266 or visit the Student Development Office at your nearest CBC location.

Students registering for the fall 2013 semester should take note that the new drop date/payment deadline is August 14, 2013. Students who need assistance setting up payment arrangements can contact the CBC Business Office at (361) 354-2220.

Financial aid is still available to those who qualify, but students needing financial aid for the summer session need to apply before June 30, 2013. The CBC Financial Aid Office can assist students with submitting their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). For more information, please contact the CBC Financial Aid Office at (361) 354-2238. CBC’s FAFSA school code is 003546.

Beginning in spring 2014, CBC faculty will begin implementing a new rotating course schedule format which will help students plan out their entire degree. Students will know ahead of time exactly which semester a certain class will be offered, and CBC will guarantee that the courses they need to graduate on time will be available.

Any student or community member with questions, concerns, or problems can always feel free to contact the Dean of Student Services, Pete Trevino, at (361) 354-2266 or via email at studentservices@coastalbend.edu for further assistance.

New, current, or former CBC students are invited to visit with an advisor or faculty member at any CBC location for assistance in planning out their schedule/degree plan, or to learn more about the academic and workforce opportunities available to them this fall. CBC looks forward to continuing to serve South Texas by providing quality, affordable education and workforce training in fall 2013 and beyond.
