BEEVILLE, TX— Coastal Bend College awarded $89,600 in scholarships to over 40 A.C. Jones High School graduates at the Evening of Excellence Scholarship Ceremony held at the A.C. Jones Auditorium on Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Coastal Bend College president, Dr. Beatriz Espinoza, presented all the scholarship recipients with certificates to commemorate the occasion.
Students who were in the top 10-percent of the 2012 graduating class received an academic scholarship worth $500 per semester to Coastal Bend College. Students who received the CBC general scholarship were awarded $400 per semester to Coastal Bend College. Both scholarships are renewable for up to four semesters as long as the student completes at least 12 hours per semester and maintains the appropriate grade point average for their respective scholarship.
The majority of A.C. Jones students are considered in-district students at Coastal Bend College, which means these scholarships can greatly help off-set the costs of higher education for local students and their families, said Candy Fuller, CBC Scholarship Coordinator. Furthermore, the Coastal Bend College general and academic scholarships can be utilized along with any financial aid or other outside scholarships that a student may qualify for or receive.
