ABC NEWS.com and Fortune Magazine rank “personal fitness trainer” as the fourth hottest job in the United States. In this blended program, students will prepare for an exciting career in this field as they master the fundamentals of personal training, gain real-life experience in an internship, and prepare to take the nationally-recognized W.I.T.S. certification exam. The program includes 15 online lecture hours, 15 practical lab hours (blended live location), and a 30-hour internship.
Note: There is no additional fee for the internship, and it is required for certification. Students will receive a “courtesy” list of approved facilities that are familiar with the program and the internship requirements. It is the student’s responsibility to contact a facility and complete the internship.
Students can select from a list of 67 practical training locations. Although practical training may be available at local facilities, some students may have to travel to regional sites to complete their training. There is no additional fee for the practical training and testing, but students will be responsible for their own travel and lodging expenses.
