Coastal Bend College to host forums for presidential search

Coastal Bend College Board of Trustees invites stakeholders to assist the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) in developing a profile for a new college president to be used in the national search. Two forums will be facilitated by ACCT representatives on Nov. 15, 11 a.m. – 12:20 p.m. and 12:30 – 1:50 p.m. on all campuses in Alice, Beeville, Kingsville and Pleasanton. Residents of the college’s service area in Atascosa, Bee, Brooks, Duval, Jim Wells, Karnes, Kleberg, Live Oak, McMullen Counties and students, faculty and staff are invited to participate in wide-ranging discussions about qualities and qualifications to be sought in presidential candidates.

 Two forums will be facilitated by ACCT representatives on Nov. 15, 11 a.m. – 12:20 p.m. and 12:30 – 1:50 p.m. on all campuses in Alice, Beeville, Kingsville and Pleasanton. Residents of the college’s service area in Atascosa, Bee, Brooks, Duval, Jim Wells, Karnes, Kleberg, Live Oak, McMullen Counties and students, faculty and staff are invited to participate in wide-ranging discussions about qualities and qualifications to be sought in presidential candidates.

“I want to encourage all who are able to attend these important forums,” said CBC Board Chairman Paul Jaure. Those unable to take part in the forums are encouraged to contact John Steinecke of ACCT at (202) 775-4468 or jsteinecke@acct.org to express opinions about what information should be included in the profile.

The first forum (11 a.m. – 12:20 p.m.) will be held in the following locations:

CBC Alice Campus, located at 704 Coyote Trail in Alice, Room 205

CBC Beeville Campus, located at 3800 Charco Road, in the George F. Elam Building, Room E-115

CBC Kingsville Campus, located at 1814 S. Brahma Blvd., in Room 131

CBC Pleasanton Campus, located at 1411 Bensdale Road, in Room 139

The second forum (12:30 – 1:50 p.m.) will be held in the following locations:

CBC Alice Campus, located at 704 Coyote Trail in Alice, Room 205

CBC Beeville Campus, located at 3800 Charco Road, in the George F. Elam Building, Room E-115

CBC Kingsville Campus, located at 1814 S. Brahma Blvd., in Room 131

The search for a new president was initiated shortly after Dr. Thomas Baynum announced his resignation, effective at the end of the current semester. Dr. Jimmy Goodson, former president of Victoria College, will serve as interim college president until the search is completed.
