Festivals are fun but a lot of work. Learn about the nuts and bolts of developing successful festivals and events in your community from experts. Coastal Bend College and Texas Leadership Institute have teamed up to present “Developing Successful Festivals and Events” on Oct. 18, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Coastal Bend College in Beeville in the George F. Elam Building, E-116.
Participants will learn how successful festivals and events can reap big economic rewards for communities. Executive Director for the George West Chamber of Commerce Becky Allen is the instructor.
Allen retired from George West Storyfest in 2008, after 20 years. She is 2004 graduate of the Texas Event Leadership Program (TELP). She also received her Texas Festivals & Events Association (TFEA) Certified Festival Professional designation the same year. She is a partner of The Buzzard Bar Cooking Team, an award-winning competitive cooking team.
Allen was presented the Carson Watt Professional of the Year Award from TFEA in 2004 and their Hall of Honor Award in 2011. She served on the board of TFEA from 2000 to 2007, including serving as board chair. She has more than 20 years experience organizing and producing different special events.
