The Guadalupe Dance Company’s choreography and elaborate costumes represent the Aztecs and the Mexican states of Tamaulipas, Veracruz, Guerrero, Colima and Yucatan. Tradiciones de Mi Tierra will fill the stage with brilliant color and transport audiences to a typical Mexican plaza filled with women dressed in lively skirts, men dancing with machetes and the intricate weaving of Maypole ribbons.
“We are enthusiastic about this exciting collaboration between the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center and Coastal Bend College,” says GCAC Dance Company Artistic Director Jeannette Chavez. “It has been a few years since we have performed here and we are looking forward to returning.”

The Guadalupe Dance Company is nationally-recognized as a premier Folkloric dance company. The dance company has performed across the United States at venues including the Nashville, Houston and San Antonio Symphonies; Canisius College of Buffalo, New York; Del Rio Council on the Arts; and Northeast Texas Community College. They danced for the TODAY show; Good Morning America; and Despierta America last year. Performing traditional Folklorico and Flamenco and non-traditional contemporary dances, the company has performed at the State Fair of Texas, the Tejano Music Awards, the NBA Rookie Game, this season’s first Dallas Cowboys home game and the first-time-ever traveling media exhibit, “CHICANO NOW!”

The Beeville concert is free and open to the public. It is presented by the Coastal Bend College Cultural Arts Committee. For more information on this and upcoming performances at CBC, contact Dr. James Lee at (361) 354-2303 or jlee@coastalbend.edu.
