South Texas artist’s photographs showcased at college library

The work of Rex Spencer, a native of Corpus Christi, will be featured at Coastal Bend College Grady C. Hogue Learning Resource Center (library) in Beeville from May 1 to May 30. The opening reception is Friday, May 7 at 11 a.m. Hogue Learning Resource Center is open from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The college library is located on the main campus at 3800 Charco Road in Beeville.  An interior design instructor at The Art Institute of Houston since 2003, Spencer has created many opportunities for students to learn outside of the normal classroom, providing the framework to become successful leaders in their fields when they leave school.

 Spencer holds a Master’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Houston. As a designer, he works with clients to create exciting and beautiful spaces. His book, Houston By Design, is a celebration of of inspiring interiors created by area designers and architects. Rex puts Houston-based designers on par with those in New York, Los Angeles, London and Paris.

 A passionate lover of the arts, Rex turned his camera on ballet dancers in his exhibition, How Do You Know the Dancer from the Dance?, the gallery exhibit showcased at the college in May.

 In addition to artistic endeavors, Spencer plays the cello for the Victoria, Corpus Christi, Laredo and Lake Charles Symphonies.
