College basketball try-outs to be held in Beeville

Coastal Bend College Basketball Try-Outs will be held on campus in Beeville on April 17, 1-5 p.m. in the Marecek Physical Fitness Center.

 CBC competes in the NJCAA Region 14 Conference as a Division I independent.  The Cougars compete against Temple College, Lee College, Lone Star College, Victoria College, Southwest Texas Jr. College, Claredon College and others. They play games and tournaments at home in Beeville and throughout Texas.

 Bucky Hartman is head coach, entering his fourth season as head coach of Cougars Men’s Basketball Team. Coach Hartman joined Coastal Bend College in 2007 as the first head coach for the new NJCAA basketball program. Prior to that, he coached at Pearland High School for four years as an assistant and at Copperas Cove High School for a year as varsity assistant/JV coach.

 Hartman graduated from Texas A&M University — Corpus Christi in 2002, where he served as student assistant under Coach Ronnie Arrow for three years, helping build a nationally-recognized program from scratch.
